Pada bagian ini dijelaskan materi mengenai pengertian, fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan descriptive text. Selain itu, disajikan pula contoh descriptive text singkat sederhana tentang orang.

Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like.

The purpose of descriptive text is to describe person, animal, things in particular.

Descriptive text has generic structure as follow:

  • Identification. It contains the introduction of a person, animal, thing or object will be describe.
  • Description. It contains a description of something such as a person, animals or things, by describing its physical appearence, personalitu or anything related to what the writer describe.

Descriptive text generraly uses:

  • Simple Present Tense

          e.g. She has curly hair

                He is bald

  • Adjectives

           e.g. pointed, flat, short, slim, thin, helpful, talkative, etc.    

Here is an example of descriptive text which describes a person.

He is Nathan. He is very handsome. He is also smart and helpful. He is tall and thin. He has short and straight hair. His nose is pointed and he has an oval face.
